The alentejo region in Portugal is home to unique, immaculate and endless landscapes of inestimable beauty. Hallie & Jason celebrated their wedding at the wonderful estate Herdade Da Malhadina Nova. It is a place of endless horizons where the family's passion and dedication turned long-abandoned land into fields where authentic Alentejo products grow and blossom. As an homage to the excellent food and wines, respect for environmental sustainability and the preservation of ancient traditions. Martha from Tales Wpt created an authentic experience & design in perfect harmony with the natural surroundings. Contrasting the sleek and raw architecture of the estate with lush and airy florals as valuable elements of a unique aesthetic.

An ethereal fête in Alentejo

Set within a dreamscape of rolling hills in the Portuguese countryside, Hallie & Jason’s wedding was a beautiful contrast of elegance and whimsy against rustic surrounds.

For my jewellery I liked the classic nature of pearls, but my earrings in particular also had a unique touch in the shape of the hoops. I also knew I wanted a lariat necklace to complement the shape of the dress. The fact that this one featured sustainable lab-grown diamonds and a modular design made it even more perfect. Finally, I wore my mother-in-law’s diamond tennis bracelet – something she had gifted me the first time we visited Jason’s parents in Chicago together.

I loved that the raw silk dress was structured but soft, very light, and that it had pockets! I was also very much inspired by Kate Moss’s garden wedding when she got married surrounded by bridesmaids and flower girls in matching delicate white dresses. So my bridesmaid wore a dress in broderie anglaise with daisy floral embroidery. For my shoes I chose Chanel slingbacks in beige and black. I wanted to treat myself something I already wanted – a pair of classic shoes that I would also wear long after the wedding.

It's amazing to think that our family and friends came all the way here from all different parts of the world to celebrate us. We loved seeing how everyone was falling in love with the country just as we did. We chose Portugal because it was one of the first trips we’d taken together and we loved everything it had to offer, from great weather to delicious food and wine to the beautiful landscapes.

Ikebana symbolizes the beauty of all components of the natural world working in harmony. I always liked the look of arrangements that are a bit wild but subtle, much like Ikebana. To balance out the more airy and erratic nature of that kind of composition, I asked for white florals with lots of greenery.

ENGAGEMENT

For Hallie and Jasons engagement session it was all about discovering the beauty and hidden gems of Portugal.
So we simply explored the soaring cliffs and golden bays of the natural, unspoiled coastline of the Algarve together. The heavenly color collision between the golden limestone, the turquoise ocean water and the endless horizons will forever have a lasting impression in our hearts.
